I only got out of bed because I thought that perhaps my landlady, who gets mail to two different family names because of, presumably, some arcane fact about Chinese names (or just her name) that I do not understand, would be listed in the phone book under her other name.

How is it that my landlady and her son who does maintenance, and my previous landlady, all have unlisted phone numbers?
