The latest Bacardi pitch: Bacardi and Diet Coke has no sugar, no carbs, and 66 calories. Right then. Rum and Coke is a health drink. Thank heavens we cleared that up then.

I thought when the ads for the low-carb beer came out that I'd seen everything. I mean, beer. It's made from grain. And it's supposed to be low carb? But no; they have sunk to a new low.

Ha ha ha. This is so totally the Oat Bran Craze of ~12 years ago, all over again. I remember ads and packaging for bread and cookies and soda with big screaming NO CHOLESTEROL! all over them. (implications: There is no danger in consuming infinite amounts of this product!)

This is exactly why KFC being promoted as healthful low-carbolicious is a good thing. The faster the Atkins Generation starts keeling over as their miraculously ketosislimmed arteries burst in great sprays of fatty protein goodness, the faster such abominations of wrongful food tamperings will cease.

Personally, I'm waiting for McDonalds to claim that they're a low carb helthfood joint in their lawsuit defense. And then start advertising it - perhaps justifying it as "But In-And-Out-Burger has been doing it for years with their lettuce wrapped 'protein-style' burgers." (note: it's OK when it's in-and-out burger as a) they don't advertise it and b) in-and-out is REALLY good).

Carl's Junior is now advertising a low carb lettuce wrapped hamburger on TV, saying it's Atkins friendly. Shoot me.
