OK, off to testsolve a puzzle for someone. And then to write one.

Er, I was supposed to be writing a dissertation, wasn't I.

Ah, well. A classmate of mine assures me that you can start six weeks before your defense. Her defense is, as I recall, in about six weeks.

'Scuse me while I fall off my chair laughing at this point. I point you at drown_not_wave, and quantumboo... the latter had a deadline a week or three back, the former has a deadline in about ten weeks.

I dunno, maybe it's different in linguistics.
