You know what'd be nice? Folders for playlists. So that if I want to create a playlist per album (see earlier posts and their comments to see why I might want to), I don't have to have 200 playlists to scroll through every time I use iTunes.

Also: tagging. I suppose that's why there's a comments field on each MP3, huh. Maybe I should start tagging songs for certain facts, like "instrumental" or "cover" or "high-energy" or "adapted-from-literature", so that I can set up smart playlists based on this information rather than having to move things in and out of ordinary playlists.

Dumb iTunes question: Is there a way to tag classical tracks as "always played together" so that one might shuffle multi-track pieces?

You can set the entire system to shuffle by album, but that's about it. In the version I have at least. It may be changed in Tiger.

What I do is join the tracks and import the joined tracks as a single MP3. This has a couple of benefits, such as not splitting the tracks up when shuffling and meaning that you only have to move a single track around when creating playlists. The disadvantage is that you have to reimport the music. There isn't a way to join several tracks into a single track after the fact that I know of.

When importing/ripping, you can use the "combine tracks" function to turn all the movements of your piece into one single massive track. That's the best I've found though.
