OK, I know this will only matter to some of you, but: I've more or less kind of reconciled myself to the fact that petite blonde Lt. Karrin Murphy has somehow morphed into tall Latina Lt. Connie Murphy.

But in the commercial for the Dresden Files, Harry says his name. Not his whole name, sure, but he says "I'm Harry Dresden..."

Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong grrrr.

Does Harry never say his name? It's been so long since I've read any of those (the trouble with writing urban fantasy: reading it is like work) that I don't remember that. Huh. Nice gimmick on Jim's part, if that's so. :)

Not really never (see comment below). Giving him two middle names was a nice way for Jim to sidestep introductions a little bit: even if he says "Harry Dresden", he's only giving half his name, not two-thirds of it.

I'm not entirely sure voiceover counts as 'saying his name' though I can't remember that Harry never says his own name in the books. He never says his full name, since names have power, but I hadn't noticed him avoiding introductions or the like.

Voiceover should certainly count: he's saying his name for the audience. On the other hand, yes, it's true that he doesn't really never say his name. I guess for me it was just one more little "that's not quite right" thing in a series of them in the commercial.

I can't really shake a stick at them, since I'm pretty sure the back of the book blurbs do the "I'm Harry Dresden." thing.

I've never even heard of this book series, but I just read a bit about it, and it sounds quite interesting. I hope the TV series is done well.
