So here's my question to you: Do you have your Christmas decorations yet? Oh, don't scream and wiggle around like that; you know you will take that question seriously soon enough. OK, perhaps some of you won't because you don't celebrate Christmas, although you may want to go with a defensive lawn display of shepherds keeping watch over little pagan children. In America, we are all forced to deal with Christmas, even if we are militantly not dealing with Christmas. That takes energy too.

My favorite Jon Carroll column was the one about dirt. I read it in an anthology, so I haven't a clue when it was published, but it had me in stitches.

Off topic: It was great re-meeting you over the weekend! Thanks for being part of an outstanding experience. I really do hope to come back as part of the staff. And why do I say "re-meeting?" Well, I finally figured out why you seemed so eerily familiar when we first met on Friday afternoon. The figuring-out process mainly involved pulling out my memory-slash-address book from 20 years ago (20!!) and there was your address from 1987 (Old Maine Trail, Atlanta), following the addresses of Carl Hoyt, Geoff Gladstone, and Jake Minas. Yep, eerily familiar indeed. I do believe we called that the session at F&M the summer of the "wacky funster."

Small, small world. Glad to be part of the shrinkage. (Erm, that came out wrong.)

I suppose, then, that I can't tell you that it was terrific to meet you, but I can definitely tell you that it was terrific to re-meet you.
