Today my step is a little slower, a little heavier.

I'm not sad; it's just that I got out of a cab, already running late, and stepped with both feet ankle-deep into wet concrete.

.....Ouch. Will you be immortalized in the sidewalk now, or did they just fill it in again?

(It's probably small consolation, but you are certainly all set now for the next time the "10 things I've done that you probably haven't" meme comes around.)

...wow. I keep thinking about this, unable to decide whether I would have burst into tears or laughed hysterically, in your, well, shoes. Probably some of both. *hug* I hope your day gets better!

I did neither. I just kind of stared blankly, swore a little, and trudged off to the men's room in the building I teach in. If I had time to break down, I might've tried it.

Beautifully posted.

I think in retrospect this will surely find itself in the "worth it for the story" category. Reminds me of the time my brother, crossing the street in Manhattan, slipped on a banana peel. He couldn't believe that could happen in real life.

I don't know, I think it's a positive to make a good impression.
