If anyone local within the virtual sound of my voice has moved recently: do you have any boxes you could spare for packing? Particularly, boxes good for packing books in?
More seriously: Liquor stores dispose of perfectly good book-holding boxes regularly. Also boxes good for smaller stuff, because they have bottle-sized dividers in them.
It surprises me nobody around here seems to know about this - it was what my parents did whenever they moved. But it works just as well here.
