Michelle, my partner, was kind enough to testsolve a small puzzle hunt for me today. (She's not really a puzzle person; it took her four hours. Puzzle people out there can probably do it in much less time.) Since she's done it, people are welcome to do it themselves. I've posted it on my pages at MIT.

If they want to know the results of the hunt, they can look behind the following cut tag, which also has a link to the answers (and some design notes). Serious puzzle people are welcome to solve first, and then read; I don't think reading will give away too much, though.

(People who're serious about solving will want to know that the answer to the first puzzle is not as clean as I'd hoped. It's three letters, which should be enough to remove possible alternate answers.)

So: we're now engaged. (Technically her answer was "You're such a dork." Close enough.)

Answers and design notes are on my web pages: design notes come first, and do include spoilers for the rest of the puzzles. But may be interesting to people who have no intention of solving, but want to know how it worked.

Congratulations.

The only thing I can't understand is how you managed to survive a proposal that lasted for four hours!

I almost killed him. He was hovering over my shoulder, and I got mad at him a couple of times.

"Your answer to five down is wrong!"

"I KNOW! WILL YOU LEAVE ME ALONE!!"

What he's not telling you is that he had a separate version with a different result that he did just so I could testsolve it without learning the secret before she did. Speaking of dork. :)

Congratulations, you guys.

As others have said, you are a dork, but that's part of your charm. ^_^

Congratulations to both of you, this is wonderful news!
