Self-defense class
Apr. 30th, 2004 01:39 pmI have now defended my second generals paper (ostensible deadline: September 2001). Which means that, barring certain incompletes and a logic course I still need to take, I've finally achieved that miraculous status of All But Dissertation.
Can I get drunk now?

Better late than never, right?
Date: 2004-06-30 12:59 pm (UTC)Re: Better late than never, right?
Date: 2004-06-30 05:05 pm (UTC)Only a couple of friends in common--suggestive but not definitive. No location or birthday, and nothing in entries that suggests a location (or indeed does much more than hint at an occupation). Ah, but a mention of a friend's department's softball team, and that friend has a location set.
Which gives me someone who's a friend of Tayefeth and Caredhel (not too many people, but certainly they must have a non-insignificant overlap in their circle of friends); someone near a particular university (and that is more informative, though also vague, as I only think I know one person out there but there could easily be more); someone whose interests include chocolate and cooking and music and pets (utterly uninformative), madrigals and science fiction and puns (somewhat more narrowing), and cognitive psychology and language acquisition (much, much more narrowing).
None of which is definitive, though, and as a scientist I can happily hypothesize but I could always use stronger corrobrating evidence. And besides, now that I have a theory, oughtn't I test it by attempting to collect more data?
So: can I have more data? :-) (A phone call would work splendidly. An email from a working email account would be pretty good too. A visit in person would be nice, but is less likely. A followup comment offering more evidence would work as well.)

Date: 2004-06-30 10:30 pm (UTC)How are you? Where are you? How does one reach you? Calling didn’t work, email bounced, your department just sounded puzzled when I tried them, I have no clue what your mailing address is...write me? call me? something better than a passionate exchange in buried livejournal comments?
