Yeah, fine, so I'm watching "Once More, With Feeling" for the third time in three days. What can you do about it. (Man, I love Sweet's reprise.)

Two quotes from the last few weeks. First, a receptionist in a doctor's office: "Aren't carrots high in carbohydrates though? Celery's high in nothing. Probably why it's a waste of time to eat it."

Second, a quote highly dependent on context. The Weekly Dig, a local free liberal newspaper, ran a "guide to the DNC" that included a "quiz" to test how liberal you are. A quick glance at the quiz is enough to get the point across: 15 statements like "Gay marriage is more reprehensible than a war based on false pretenses" with which you were supposed to rate from 1 (agree) to 5 (disagree), and a scoring system where 15 was mainstream American (vote for Bush) and 16-75 was "redder than a baboon's ass; call the FBI".

What made this funny was that these three college-aged girls who were out raising money for the DNC were reading the quiz and taking it far too seriously. Then one read: "Ann Coulter is attractive. And not in that Iggy Pop sort of way," and looked at the other two and said, "Who's Ann Coulter?"

Well, thank heavens the wide-eyed youngsters out campaigning for the DNC are doing it because they're politically astute and informed people.

Oh god, I've gotten old, haven't I.

Sometimes I wonder if the reason most "young people" don't vote is because of their opinion of the "young people" who do.

I would agree. A lot of people think being politically informed makes you less cool. I'm not sure how that works though, since I do not care about being cool. Yay voting.

Hmm and celery and peanut butter is nutritious and delicious.

i dunno. i am comforted by "who is ann coulter?" since the alternative could have easily been "oh, ann coulter! i LOVE her. she wears the cutest shoes!"

It must be nice to live in a universe without Ann Coulter, actually.

And Harold made CDs of the entire audio track to OMWF so er um I've got the whole episode memorized.

Actually, I think the only ways I've ever heard of her are from liberals quoting and flaming her as an example of how eeevil conservatives are.

Then again, I've only heard Rush Limbaugh a few times too, on my cross-country trip five years ago.

I think the best way I've found to tell people who Ann Coulter is is to say, "She's Ainsley Hayes, only in the real world, instead of on The West Wing, and neither as cute nor as amusing."
