The last iTunes trick was "The A of B": songs starting with "the " and containing " of ". For those interested in the 29 songs that fit, here's the list. Er, though I did take the liberty of alphabetizing them--both halves of them

  1. The Art of a Coed
  2. The Ballad of Billy the Kid
  3. The Ballad of China
  4. The Ballad of Dancing
  5. The Boys of Dreams
  6. The Dance of Eddie Praeger
  7. The Dark Night of Love
  8. The Dream of Maidenhood
  9. The End of May
  10. The End of Mr. Morton
  11. The Great Wall of Pickled Okra
  12. The Guns of Rock & Roll
  13. The Heart of Shalott
  14. The Heart of Silence
  15. The Joy of Snuff
  16. The Lady of Summer
  17. The Look of the Alps
  18. The Lusty Month of the Blue Turtles
  19. The Pinch of the Cebu
  20. The Pointless, Yet Poignant, Crisis of the Cucumber
  21. The Politics of the Innocence
  22. The Ranks of the Magnificent Seven
  23. The Rhythm of the Matter
  24. The River of the Possible
  25. The Simple Joys of the Saints
  26. The Song of the Sneak
  27. The Sound of the Soul
  28. The Tale of the Summer
  29. The Yodeling Veterinarian of the Undead

Sadly, one of the titles didn't change. However, those that did change pretty much uniformly changed into more entertaining titles, I think. For those who feel an intense need to "solve" this, the songs are by or from: ABC, Billy Joel, Boiled in Lead, Camelot, Da Vinci's Notebook, Dar Williams, Don Henley, Evita, Francis Heaney, Huey Lewis and the News, Loreena McKennitt, Paul And Storm, Paul Simon, Paul Simon, Re-Flex, Schoolhouse Rock, Sting, Veggie Tales. Not, of course, in that order.

Perhaps tomorrow, the slightly less entertaining "X with Y" list (including such classics as "How Fortunate the Man With Mrs. White" and "Is She Really Going Out With My Father?").

"The Great Wall of Pickled Okra" is definitely my favorite. It helps, I think, to have building blocks like "Pickled Okra" and "The Yodeling Veterinarian."

Certainly true--but I'm a big fan of "The Simple Joys of the Saints" as well.

I'm particularly curious about The Pointless, Yet Poignant, Crisis of the Cucumber -- someone should write the lyrics to some of these.

"The Great Wall of Pickled Okra" and "The Yodeling Veterinarian of the Undead" are priceless. And alas, alas, for the end of Mr. Morton.

"Mr. Morton was the subject of this sentence...."

Veggie Tales ?!?!?!?!?!

Don't tell me I'm actually missing something in those Biblical computer animated vegetables ...

But I do approve of the Schoolhouse Rock stuff. I surprised myself when I saw how much I love the Mr. Morton / Predicate tune even if it was "second generation." (Glad they brought back so many of the original folks.) It's a lovely short.

Oh, but you are, you are. I've never seen an actual episode of the show, but I own Silly Songs with Larry, and they are, well, silly. Fun. And with no Biblical content to speak of.

I have seen a few episodes (with my niece, she loves them to pieces), and the videos of the Silly Songs are the best part of them. And actually, while Biblical, they are pretty fun to watch. Kinda like a Christian version of the "Muppet Show." Lots of silly stuff for the kids and many funny jokes that only adults would get.

I should see if the new DVD reader we put on Jennifer's computer is able to pull out the new Silly Song "Sport Utility Vehicle" from their latest DVD "A Snoodle's Tale". (I personally think the DVD is one of their best yet)

Somehow, I think you might enjoy a love ballad between two SUV-owning suburbians. (Who happen to be vegtables, but that doesn't come up)

The Silly Songs are the best parts, indeed.

If you do ever get a chance to watch one, far and away the best of their videos is 'Are You My Neighbor' -- featuring the tale of the Good Samaritan done in flawless Dr. Seuss meter, the operatic epic The Hairbrush Song, and a Star Trek parody "The Gourds Must Be Crazy". Not to mention a positive moral lesson about celebrating difference.

"Didn't you minor in Hyperspatial Engineering at the Happy Tots Preschool?" "Why yes -- yes I did!"

Computer-animated Christian singing vegetables retelling the Good Samaritan in Seussian verse. With a wind-up lobster. It really is not to be missed.

Rather like "The Art of a Coed" and "The Lusty Month of the Blue Turtles".

Those are uniformly better song titles. Good idea.
