Even More Stupid iTunes Tricks
Aug. 18th, 2004 03:06 amThe last iTunes trick was "The A of B": songs starting with "the " and containing " of ". For those interested in the 29 songs that fit, here's the list. Er, though I did take the liberty of alphabetizing them--both halves of them
- The Art of a Coed
- The Ballad of Billy the Kid
- The Ballad of China
- The Ballad of Dancing
- The Boys of Dreams
- The Dance of Eddie Praeger
- The Dark Night of Love
- The Dream of Maidenhood
- The End of May
- The End of Mr. Morton
- The Great Wall of Pickled Okra
- The Guns of Rock & Roll
- The Heart of Shalott
- The Heart of Silence
- The Joy of Snuff
- The Lady of Summer
- The Look of the Alps
- The Lusty Month of the Blue Turtles
- The Pinch of the Cebu
- The Pointless, Yet Poignant, Crisis of the Cucumber
- The Politics of the Innocence
- The Ranks of the Magnificent Seven
- The Rhythm of the Matter
- The River of the Possible
- The Simple Joys of the Saints
- The Song of the Sneak
- The Sound of the Soul
- The Tale of the Summer
- The Yodeling Veterinarian of the Undead
Sadly, one of the titles didn't change. However, those that did change pretty much uniformly changed into more entertaining titles, I think. For those who feel an intense need to "solve" this, the songs are by or from: ABC, Billy Joel, Boiled in Lead, Camelot, Da Vinci's Notebook, Dar Williams, Don Henley, Evita, Francis Heaney, Huey Lewis and the News, Loreena McKennitt, Paul And Storm, Paul Simon, Paul Simon, Re-Flex, Schoolhouse Rock, Sting, Veggie Tales. Not, of course, in that order.
Perhaps tomorrow, the slightly less entertaining "X with Y" list (including such classics as "How Fortunate the Man With Mrs. White" and "Is She Really Going Out With My Father?").

But I do approve of the Schoolhouse Rock stuff. I surprised myself when I saw how much I love the Mr. Morton / Predicate tune even if it was "second generation." (Glad they brought back so many of the original folks.) It's a lovely short.

Re: OK I'll bite ...
Date: 2004-09-13 11:47 am (UTC)If you do ever get a chance to watch one, far and away the best of their videos is 'Are You My Neighbor' -- featuring the tale of the Good Samaritan done in flawless Dr. Seuss meter, the operatic epic The Hairbrush Song, and a Star Trek parody "The Gourds Must Be Crazy". Not to mention a positive moral lesson about celebrating difference.
"Didn't you minor in Hyperspatial Engineering at the Happy Tots Preschool?" "Why yes -- yes I did!"
Computer-animated Christian singing vegetables retelling the Good Samaritan in Seussian verse. With a wind-up lobster. It really is not to be missed.
