If you really want me to snap at you, here's a tip: wait until it's Passover, so you can be sure that I'm hungry more or less any time I'm out of the house. Then stand in the subway station, as I'm passing through to try to get a train that will get me to Davis in time for a bus, so I can get home sooner to eat.

Then, try to hand me a Jews for Jesus pamphlet. I bet that'll work every damned time.

I hate being hungry. I hate not being able to concentrate. I hate my low energy.

Yeah, I bet they think Passover's a good time to hand out pamphlets. It weakens the herd. Glad to hear it didn't work on you! (Jews for Jesus make me very, very tired.)

Augh. I can just imagine.

I turn into an utter snarling beast when I'm hungry. I sympathize.

This is meant to be neither rhetorical, nor incredulous, nor offensive. Just a question. Why do you keep kosher for Passover?

Yeah, um, well, I don't know. I mean, "because I'm Jewish", but I'm not shomer shabbas, I don't go to synagogue...

But I light Chankuah candles, too. That's of course less of an imposition on my lifestyle, but. It's just something I do, I guess.

i don't think it's coincidence that girl scout cookies come out at the same time as passover, either.

in general, i like to entertain the notion of printing up business like cards that say "no thanks, fuckface, i'm Saved already so eat me." or something similar, then when they hand me a fucking pamphlet (hunger or no hunger) i can hand them one of my cards. seems like a fair trade.

You don't know me - I see your posts on Callyperry's friends' page.

I suggest buying a set of tupperware/rubbermaid stuff that you keep with your other Passover dishes and packing a lunch and snacks along with you everywhere you go for the duration. Fruit is even more convenient, as it often comes in its own convenient wrapper (ie the peel). And many eating places offer salads or baked potatoes or other fruits of the earth or tree that would be fine in any season. I'm the sort of person who eats all the time and don't have a problem staying full during Passover, but it is a constant reminder how many baked goods are available everywhere.

The problem, really, is that these days I'm hungry all the time anyway. I think it's the stress. But I'm sitting here in a coffee shop, having eaten just before I left home at 2 pm, and having eaten an apple I brought with me around 4 pm, and having had two large iced teas, and I can feel myself getting hungry again, and it's only 6pm. I'll head home in about an hour--but my usual schedule is to go to the Diesel until it closes at midnight, and I don't think I could have brought enough, or found enough nearby to buy, to last me that long.

Well, it's only another couple of days.

Of course you're hungry - you're hardly eating! Presume 2 PM as the after lunch starting point (unless it's after breakfast, in which case I'm already a meal ahead of you). Before 4 I had OJ and a banana. Sometime before 6 I had had a couple of matzo/almond-butter/raisin sandwiches and milk. While cooking I munched on some walnuts. About 7:15 supper (matzo, grape juice, farfel/tomato/broccoli/onion/mushroom/cheese casserole). 8:15 dessert
(matzo with farmer cheese and cherry jam). We're obviously on a different circadian cycle anyway - I had breakfast before 8 and only water until about 1, but then ate a huge lunch and started on the food above. I'll be asleep when you leave Diesel, which is a coffee shop?

The Diesel is a coffee shop (in Davis Square, in Somerville). And indeed, my rhythm is very different than yours; I woke up today a little after noon, I think.
