Great. Jury duty, September 7th. In West Newton. Suddenly finding an out of state job before September feels even more pressing.

Anyone know if getting to West Newton from Somerville without a car counts as a "hardship" for the purpose of transferring one's summons to the nearby courthouse, or if it's only an "inconvenience"?

I'm amazed they let you know so far in advance. In NYC, the notice comes at most 2 weeks ahead of time.

If you don't have a car, I think it's a hardship.

What time do you have to report? I had jury duty two years ago scheduled in Lowell (IIRC), near the NH border; although I could have technically made it there by 8 AM (by catching the first T and getting the first commuter rail train) I successfully argued "hardship."

I have successfully changed venue for jury duty more than once without any problems. I just sent the form back and no one questioned it.
