I can't believe I'm giving into the "how I met X" meme, but, well, why not. Of course, many of the people on my friends list I haven't per se met....
1200seconds,
ambar,
caredhel,
cyranocyrano,
diony, and
kirbyk are all people I met online, mostly around 1991 to 1992 on PernMUSH (cursed be thy name), and who I met in person during a trip to California in, oh, 1997 or so. So much for a flood of fascinating memories, I suppose.
tayefeth I met online as well, on Pern in 1991, but met in real life on a slightly later occasion (mostly thanks to
caredhel, among others).
bryant,
bumblepudding,
drastic, and
spenceraloysius I met online, but have never actually met in person at all. (Similarly,
risu is someone who...um...OK, I'm not positive I remember who that is, actually. She--if it is she, I suspect Risu's female, whoever it is--never seems to post, so I'm not really at all certain...well, I'm sure adding them was a good idea at one point.)
sensational I met on Pern in '91 and have never met in person, but we've spoken on the phone, which counts for something.
lemurtanis,
saxikath, and
thedan I met at the 2000 Mystery Hunt.
I met
prog at Game Night, Mad Lab Rabbit that he is.
aelfsciene and
chrysoula I met at Science Fiction House at Carleton College...well, almost true, since the former I think I actually first met at the Minnesota Renaissance Faire, and ended up with her lying across my lap in the car back. (Mind you, she was dating Justin at the time, I believe. Remember Justin?)
jadelennox I met, er, well, depends on how you count, really. We first corresponded over the Flash Girls mailing list, but of course I really knew her at that point because she was rooming with friends of mine from Carleton, though we didn't actually meet until the wedding of those friends. (Not that it was easy to tell her, at that point, from a friend of hers, since they both answered to her name when I tried calling it…)
And of course
lilisonna and I met in eighth grade, when we were the female and male leads (respectively) in one of the worst plays ever perpetrated on the innocent theatregoer. Not that we spoke for three years after that, until friends of ours tried to set us up in 11th grade. Fools.
Well, there you go. Could've been a lot more interesting, if I had a more interesting life

and tell me again it wasn't that bad :)
(And no, the Khyri in the log is not me - this is before the character was recycled and I took it over...)
*poke*
Date: 2002-06-28 04:52 am (UTC)I remember how we first met. I was visiting David and Becca and Marc in their room and you were playing Fool's Errand on the computer. I tried to help you with some of the puzzles.
